Dear Families,
Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our children and staff. As we transition into a new stage at our preschool, we want you to know that we are taking every precaution to ensure a safe environment for everyone at Vanguard Children's Academy (VCA).
While we have adjusted our protocols, we remain ready to provide the love, care, education, and safety that your children deserve. The principal objective of our new COVID-19 Protection Plan (CPP) is to best protect students, teachers, administrators, and staff while slowing any spread amongst our preschool community. VCA is implementing the guidelines below given by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and the Department of Health while adjusting to meet the unique needs and circumstances of our preschool. At this time, these policies are under continuous review and are subject to change as we monitor conditions and receive guidance from health and government authorities. Implementation will be guided by what is feasible, practical, acceptable, and tailored to the needs of our VCA community.
We appreciate your support in this process as we strive to ensure the safety of one another. Please find a brief overview of our guidelines below as it contains important information regarding our school's safety measures. Maintaining a Healthy School Environment
Coronavirus, COVID-19, is mostly spread by respiratory droplets and it is thought that the virus may spread to hands from a contaminated surface and then to the nose or mouth, thus causing infection. Therefore, personal prevention practices, such as hand washing, staying home when sick, environmental cleaning, and disinfection are important principles that are now as important as ever at our preschool.
Cleaning & Disinfection
Frequently touched surfaces within VCA will be cleaned and disinfected daily and between use as often as possible. The use of shared objects will be limited as often as possible and cleaned between each use. Children will have their own set of materials and supplies inside their classroom.
Modified Layouts
Students will be Dropped Off and Picked Up through the preschool’s Playground to avoid the Front Lobby common area. Staff will space out seating, desks, and activities at least 6 feet apart when feasible. VCA will limit visitors, events, and enrichment teachers until further notice.
Promoting Behaviors that Reduce Spread
Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette

Handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used (for staff and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer).

Staff and students must cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Used tissues should be thrown in the trash and hands washed immediately with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Masks & Face Shields

VCA will require each attendee present to wear a mask while at the preschool.

Staff, students, and families should be alert on the proper use and removal of masks.

Note: Masks should not be placed on:

Children younger than 2 years old

Anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious

Anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask alone
